Jim Paruk Principal Investigator Jim Paruk is a Professor of Biology at St. Joseph’s College, in Maine, and has been studying Common Loons across North America for the past 28 years. He has published over 30 scientific articles on loons and recently wrote a book, published by the University of Minnesota Press entitled, Loon Lessons: Uncommon Encounters with the Great Northern Diver. The book provides the most current detailed account of what we know about loons, from their plumage, migration routes, to how old they live and how long a pair stays together.
